Hero Quest: Cupboard

I painted my Hero Quest’s Cupboard miniature. And it is my first experience with Army Painter’s “Speed Paints”.

Here’s a description of how I painted it.

First I primed with a black and then I applied a base coat with Army Painter - Ash Grey spray. I took care that it has some variations so it shows beneath the speed paints.

Then applied a generous layer of Army Painter’s Speed Paints. Mainly “Satchel Brown” and “Slaughter Red” and a mix between them. Also mixed those base colors with “Peachy Flesh” and “Zealot Yellow” to create variations.

Then for the final result I applied several other steps:

I applied in various places thinned down “Peachy Flesh” and “Zealot Yellow” to variate the tone further.

For further weathering I did an ultra-light drybrush with “Pale Brown” (Vallejo Air) (a tone a bit lighter than my base “Satchel Brown”).

For the handles and metal parts:

  • Basecoat with a silver metallic color
  • Thinned down Army Painter’s “Dry Rust” effect
  • Then a light drybrush with “Engine Motor” gray (Vallejo’s dark gray non-metallic)
